Getting Started

To race you'll need a suitable car, radio gear, charger and battery / batteries. If you need advice there are many people who will help you out at the club. Or any additional advice to getting started see the Links page and speak to one of the shops listed.

Class Advice

For beginners we suggest a Tamiya mini as they are a good introduction to the sport without too many high costs.

All the heats are graded on skill so you will most likely be in a heat with drivers of a similar level of skill.

Racing costs are as follows: Members £5, Non-Members £6.
Club Membership is £10, Our membership runs from January to December.

If racing, BRCA membership is necessary for insurance purposes. BRCA club affliated membership is £13 (£2 saving over normal membership)

Mini

NEW RULE FOR 2011 - Because of different varieties of silver can motor and increased cost of silver can motors, the new club stock motor will be the HPI 27T Saturn motor.

Tamiya M-Chassis – Any Hop-ups can be used BUT a HPI 27t Saturn motor ONLY is allowed (no modified wind silver cans).Rubber tyres only, NO tracktite to be used on rubber tyres.

Super Mini

2wd or 4wd Minis can be used, rubber or foam tyres allowed to be used but NO additive whether its foam or rubber tyres being used. 17.5t Brushless or 20t Saturn or Tamiya Sport Tuned motor allowed.

Touring Cars

No motor limit so brushed or brushless suitable. Foam tyres ARE allowed to be used but NO tracktite whether its foam or rubber tyres being used.

1:12th Circuit

19t brushed motor or 10.5t Brushless. 4-cell or single cell lipo. Tracktite allowed (Please use only nosram, lrp blue or corally jack the gripper carpet additives)
